China'sautomotivemarketexperiencedrapidgrowthinthepastseveraldecades.Theimpactontheenergyconsumptionandgreenhousegas(GHG)emissionsbecomegreatconcerns.Inthisstudy,amodelbasedonlife-cycleassessment(LCA)method-ologyisestablishedtoestimatetheGHGemissionscausedbyvehicleuseinChinafrom2015to2050.Threescenariosaredesignedtode-scribedifferentpenetrationofelectricvehiclesandtotalvehiclesales.Inthesescenarios,theGHGemissionswillseparatelydecrease34.4%,19.8%,and40.9%in2050comparedwiththatin2015.Theresultsindicatethatthepromotionofelectricvehicleswilleffec-tivelyreducetheGHGemissionsafter2035.Besides,thelimitationoftotalsalesofvehiclescanalsomarkedlyreducetheemissions.
