Objective To establish a novel colorimetric method based on Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles for the detection of tetracycline antibiotics in foods. Methods Fe3O4 nano-enzyme was synthesized by hydrothermal method. Fe3O4 nano-enzyme was characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. After the sample was pretreated and reacted with the material, the tetracycline antibiotics content was detected at 451 nm using an ultraviolet spectrophotometer. Results The linear relationships of four tetracycline antibiotics were good in the concentration range of 0.2-2.0 μg/mL (r>0.99). The recoveries of the 3 spiked recovery experiments were 89.9%-93.1%, and the relative standard deviations were 4.39%-6.85%, meeting the experimental requirements. Conclusion This method is rapid and accurate, which can be used for the detection of tetracycline antibiotics in food.
