Abstract：Traditionaldirectionofarrival(DOA)estimationmethodsbasedonsparsereconstructioncommonlyuseconvexorsmoothfunctionstoapproximatenon-convexandnon-smoothsparserepresentationproblems.Thisapproachoftenintroduceserrorsintothesparserepresentationmodel,necessitatingthedevelopmentofimprovedDOAestimationalgorithms.Moreover,conventionalDOAestimationmethodstypicallyassumethatthesignalcoincideswithapredeterminedgrid.However,inreality,thisassumptionoftendoesnotholdtrue.Thelikelihoodofasignalnotaligningpreciselywiththepredefinedgridishigh,resultinginpotentialgridmismatchissuesforthealgorithm.Toaddressthechallengesassociatedwithgridmismatchanderrorsinsparserepresentationmodels,thisarticleproposesanovelhigh-performanceoff-gridDOAestimationapproachbasedoniterativeproximalprojection(IPP).Intheproposedmethod,weemployanalternatingoptimizationstrategytojointlyestimatesparsesignalsandgridoffsetparameters.Aproximalfunctionoptimizationmodelisutilizedtoaddressnon-convexandnon-smoothsparserepresentationproblemsinDOAestimation.Subsequently,weleveragethesmoothlyclippedabsolutedeviationpenalty(SCAD)functiontocomputetheproximaloperatorforsolvingthemodel.SimulationandseatrialexperimentshavevalidatedthesuperiorityoftheproposedmethodintermsofhigherresolutionandmoreaccurateDOAestimationperformancewhencomparedtobothtraditionalsparsereconstructionmethodsandadvancedoff-gridtechniques.
