Toobtaintheeffectofchangeinthehorizontalcurvefeatureonthesteeringbehaviourofapassenger,vehicledrivingbehaviourwhennegotiatingasimplecurve(tangent+circular+tangent)wasinvestigated.ThisresearchestablishedafulldynamicmodelofapassengercarusingAutomaticDynamicAnalysisofMechanicalSystems(ADAMS)software.Virtualdrivingtestsonsimplecurveswithvariousparameterswereconductedundertwodrivingpatterns:curvecuttingandlanekeepingrespectively.Basedonamplitudevariationofangleinputofthesteeringwheel,thesteeringprocessofapassengercarwasdividedintothreestages:curveentry,maintenance,andcurveexit.Thesteeringlengthsandsteeringtimeswhenthevehicleentered,remainedandexitedcurveswereobtainedforeachdrivingpatternrespectively.Therelationshipbetweenthetwoparametersandcurveradius,deflectionanglewasthusacquired.Ontheonehand,thisresearchcanprovidethecontrolbasisforparameterselectionforcurvegeometrydesign,especiallyforassigningavaluetospirallength.Ontheotherhand,thecorrespondencebetweenthesteeringwheelangleandthetrajectorycurvatureallowsustoidentifythethreedrivingstates:straightdriving,variable-curvaturedriving,andcircularcurvedriving.Thisishelpfultoanimprovementindriverbehaviour.
