Inordertoimprovethereliabilityofthemicrowavevehicledetectiontechnology,wedeveloplinearfrequencymodulatedcontinuouswave(FMCW)radartoprovideaccurateandreliabletrafficdata.Thevehicledetectionradarconsistsoffront-endunitanddataprocessingunit.IVM-297microwavemoduleisselectedasthemicrowavetransceiversensor,andtriangularwavecircuitisdesignedtogeneratethemodulationsignal.Then,wechooseFPGAmoduleasthedataprocessertotakeadvantagesofitsparallelprocessingcapabilities,aswellastheintegrated"FFTCORE".WindowedFFTisusedtoanalysisthespectrumcharacteroftheoutputintermediatefrequency(IF)signals.Atlast,backgroundsubtractionmethodandmaximumspectralpeakdetectionmethodareusedforvehicledetectionapplications.ThedevelopedFMCWradarisabletoachievethebasicgoalsofvehicledetection,andlaysafoundationforfurtherresearch.
