Thispaperproposesafinitevolumemethodwithcompactfourth-orderaccuracyschemefornumericalsimulationofthewaterwaves.ThePadétypecompactschemeisusedindiscretizationofbothconvectionanddiffusionterms.Thefourth-orderRunge-Kuttamethodisusedfortemporaldiscretizationandthevelocity-pressurecouplingisensuredateachstage.Thevolumeoffluid(VOF)methodisusedtocapturethefreesurfaceofthewave.Thetwo-dimensionallid-drivencavityflowisusedasexampletovalidatetheproposedscheme.Thenthesimulationoflinearwaveisconductedbytheproposedmodel.Theresultsofthewavesimulationisingoodagreementwiththetheoreticalvalues,whichimpliesthattheproposedmodelhasgoodefficiencyandaccuracytosimulatethewaterwave.
